Garlic Mustard Alert
Linda Stechison -  Advanced Master Gardener & Certified Garden Consultant

Garlic Mustard is an attractive upright plant with clusters of tiny white flowers.  It is easy to identify because crushing the
leaves results in a pungent, garlic-like odor.  Garlic Mustard originated in Europe and was brought here as a vitamin-rich
herb.
It is invasive and has crowded out most of the indigenous wildflowers.
The only proven way to eradicate the spread of Garlic Mustard is to pull out individual plants.  Because it is a biennial
plant it is most important to pull out the plants in bloom so seeds won't be produced.
Please pull out the entire
Garlic Mustard plant when you see it in your yard.
Also consider spending time pulling Garlic Mustard plants
from the Rouge River bank where they are currently in full bloom.
